First photos coming From Maldives Underwater Cabinet Meeting for 350!
Wow. The photos that are starting to roll in from the underwater cabinet meeting in the Maldives are amazing.
More should be rolling in in the coming hours, but here's a quick taste...much more coming soon!
And in case you're not already in the loop, here's an explanation from the press release:
The president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, and his ministers will be holding an official cabinet meeting in an unusual location – underwater. On Saturday, 17 October, the Maldives government will hold the first ever official meeting underwater as part of an international movement organized by 350.org to draw global attention to the pressing issue of climate change.
To call attention to their country’s plight as a nation already feeling the effects of climate change, ministers will ratify a statement calling for rapid greenhouse gas reductions – they will communicate by the use of hand signals and write on slates. The statement will be presented at the UN climate change talks in Copenhagen this December.

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we get the world on track to get to 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why October 24th?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?

The great thing about holding meetings under water, rather than
beside the water, is that there is no possibility of a soot-heavy
bonfire. We must stop the fires: campfires, bonfires, fire-pit fires,
fireplace fires - burning wood is one of the worst things we can do.

Holding a cabinet meeting under water is one of the most interesting ways of doing it. When will we get the details of what was discussed in layman's terms so that we can all understand? Thank you for sharing. blagues

It's so powerful, because if nothing changes, this country will be underwater. I'm so impressed with them.

Concerning my
Environment
I was thinking about my self..
What would be the best idea to protect our environment ?
What can I do my self to protect our environment ?
I am a-10-years old Maldivian My name is Ijaz Jaiz my native place is maathoda, and I am living in Villingili. I've always cared a lot about the climate, and our environment, and the beautiful Earth.
Well, it WAS beautiful before my father said to me. He said he remember when he was young, there weren't so many tall buildings, modern cars, or visitations of providence. So there was less pollution, less noise, and less cry.
Instead, God gave us a nice world for everyone to build up. There were flowers everywhere, and animals as well as plants lived together with us. So were the land and the blue ocean. But nothing stays. So sad. So bad. We all see the situation now.
"why,why,does the tiger fun
why,why,do we shoot the gun
Why,why, why why we throws plastic bags in to the sea and jungle, do we never learn ?
Can someone tell us why we let the forest burn?
Why,why,do we say we care
Tell me why?
Why,why,do we stand and stare
Tell me why?
Why,why,do the dolphins cry
Can someone tell us why we let the ocean die?
Why,why,if we're all the same
Tell me why?
Why,why,do we pass and blame
Tell me why?
Why why does it never end
Can someone tell us why we cannot just be friends?
Why why do we close our eyes
Why why do the greedy life
Why why do we fight for land
Can someone tell us why 'cos we don't understand?
Why,why?"
This song has proved everything we need to care about and to help with!
Let's hope, let's work, let's get a move on!
