Spider Nick and the Maddogs Show & 350.org Day of Action
24 October 2009 - 9:00pm
Come on down to JD's Place in Farmingdale for a Spider Nick & the Maddogs show / 350.org Day of Action event. The first 50 people at the door will get a free 350.org sticker & pin to spread the word!
Spider Nick is Long Island-based band with ska, surf, punk, and rockabilly influences that's been playing across the East Coast for the past 14 years. Skank, dance, jump around and sing out loud with us as we raise awareness of climate change and the specific target we need to reach. For more info, check out the band at www.spidernick.com
Many of our songs are politically inspired and on October 24th, we'll be singing in the name of climate change. We're in the process of negotiating with a Long Island-based solar contractor who will power the band with batteries charged by photovoltaic solar panels, so the show will have a zero-carbon footprint.
Event Details - Doors open at 9pm. 21+ Only. $8 at the door... A portion of the proceeds will be donated to 350.org.
The first 50 people at the door will receive a free 350.org-themed gift from the band!

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?
