Rainwater Harvesting with Transition Los Angeles

Saturday, 9 October, 2010 - 09:00 - 12:05

Help install a rainwater harvesting system at the new segment of the Community Garden in Westchester. We'll be digging infiltration pits which will water the new fruit trees.

Learn about rainwater harvesting, why it is important, and view the other types of rainwater harvesting systems demonstrated on the community garden site.

Since transporting and processing water in California demands 19% of California’s electricity consumption, saving water is a Global Warming Solution, too!

Please bring your own tools -- whatever you have of the following: pointed end shovel, pick, metal rake, gloves, sunhats. Light refreshments will be provided.

Our work isn't just for 10/10/10 -- we do this stuff year round! We are part of Transition Los Angeles, a network of people who create community-based solutions for climate change + peak oil + economic contraction. Come join us!
