Climate Change Wall of Hope and Shame
Saturday, 24 October, 2009 - 15:00
350.org Rally at Atlantic Dunes Beach Park (1605 South Ocean Blvd., Delray Beach, Florida) with a human wall of climate change hope and shame, at 3:50 p.m. to reflect on the need for reform and change to stop the continued destruction of our planet due to global warming.
Picture this:
•It's 3:20 p.m. and a wall of 350 people walks across Ocean Blvd.,/A1A to the Atlantic Dunes Beach.
•Each person is carrying a picture or object that depicts the hope or shame of climate change (think a picture of wind turbines on the plains in Iowa or a polar bear toy).
•Several in the group are carrying a banner that says "Obama - Floridians honor leaders not politicians - Stop Global Warming - COP15".
•As these 350 people gather on the beach, facing the ocean, it turns 3:50 p.m.
•A gong sounds, and the first object/picture of hope or shame is revealed; the gong sounds again, and the second picture/object is revealed. This continues for 350 seconds.
•At 3:57 p.m., the gong stops and the banner reminding Obama that we need him to negotiate a strong and binding climate treaty is carried in front of the group and up the beach with the 350 person wall standing strong behind it.
•By 4 p.m. a strong and powerful message has been shared.
To be part of this amazing wall, be at the parking lot across from the beach by 3 p.m.
