350 Persons Planting 350 Trees in 350 seconds!
24 October 2009 - 8:00am
350 Persons Planting 350 Trees in 350 seconds! This is intended to be a Public Spectacle whereby persons become curious and aware of the significance of the number 350. Thus its hoped the creation of this Carbon Sink will be duplicated throughout Barbados to assist with creation of ecosystems. Much of vegetation which is home to the Green Monkey in Barbados is being destroyed to provide housing solutions. This causes migration of Green Monkeys to areas of human habitation and increased roadkill due to their search for food.
Caribbean Climate Change Day of Action will be taking place on October 24th.,2009. The main event will be 350 Persons Planting 350 Trees in 350 seconds at 8:00am at Morgan Lewis Hill,St Andrew,Barbados.
This is being held under the auspices of the Future Centre Trust with the kind assistance of the regional International Day of Climate Action coordinators Caribbean Youth Environmental Network. The entire Caribbean is participating in this global event so says Mariama Branker the Caribbean Region Field Coordinator. This augurs well in bringing climate change issues and its impact on societies to the fore. Thus the Future Centre Trust is pleased to be associated with CYEN in promoting International Day of Climate Action.

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we get the world on track to get to 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why October 24th?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?
