nesian 350

Saturday, 24 October, 2009 - 15:00

The nesian 350 movement, is a collaboration of 4 Suva based youth groups (Econesians, Greenpulse Fiji, CakauHara and PYCC). We have mobilized together to raise awareness on climate change, its impact on Pacific Island Countries and the significance of the number 350 for climate change.

The event was launched by Dr Randy Thaman on 10th October at USP lower campus. We are from now till the 24th of October undertaking awareness initiatives that will add onto the programme for the 24th of October, the global day of Action for Climate Change.

As part of these initiatives, we are trying to get handprints from everyday citizens of the Pacific, that we will try and get to Copenhagen to be displayed at the Pacific booth. The handprints symbolize personal requests from individuals to COP15 to take a determined stance at tackling Climate Change and demanding emission cuts from the biggest polluters. It is about voicing our opinions even though we will not be physically present at Copenhagen, the banner will showcase the solidarity of our people and our demand for action NOW on Climate Change!

On the 24th of october we hope to mobilie 350 or more peopel to join us and walk, run, jog, cycle or row 3.5km from Albert Park to USP Lower Campus.

So come and join us and make a Statement
