Come to the Cathedral Saint John the Divine:
1047 Amsterday Avenue @ 112th Street, 11:00 - 12:00 Saturday, October 24, 2009
Wear earthcolors - Sign the Commitment Card for your own personal, ongoing 350 Action. Join us on the steps of the Cathedral 11:30 for a large photo - card signatures Blessed.
The "Low or No Fossil Fuel Usage Days" - Commitment Card States:
"I,__________________________, make a commitment to select a day a week to use no or low fossil fuels to the best of my ability."
This is part of my personal effort to decrease CO2 to a level of 350 parts per million (or less), the number that has been scientifically established as the maximum amount of CO2 allowable for sustainability of our planet (previously450ppm), and, in so doing, I will help to protect God's Creation.
Some ideas:
1. Use renewably generated electricity
2. Walk, bike, scooter
3. Use public transportation
4. Use high MPG vehicles
5. Avoid use of plastics
6. Eat less or no meat
7. Eat locally grown food
8. Plant trees, gardens, plants
The Environmental Task Force of the Congregation of Saint Saviour within the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine
On the left side of the card is a place for the person's name, printed, and the congregation logo. This portion is removed and collected in a container.
Both portions of the card have a place for the number of the card at the top.
The individual takes the commitment portion; the other collected portion with the names - the people - will be blessed on October 24th and the names read on the steps of the Cathedral, 11 - 12:00, and the Cathedral's bells will ring 350 times.
We hope to have 350 names/commitment cards. We will continue to collect these on the street Saturday, October 24th and to hand out information on the 350 Action Day and the importance of the number 350 and 350ppm.
