CO2 emissions reduction
Saturday, 24 October, 2009 - 01:00
Showing how easy it is to reduce CO2 emissions in commercial buildings, by helping the Reserve Bank's energy management programme increase their verified savings from 224 tonnes CO2/yr (compared to the year ending June 2008) they saved in 2009.
This has come from a HVAC Optimisation project cutting the Bank's energy use by 22% from the previous year, after they had already reduced it to 30% below the NZ Property Council's benchmark.
The project paid for itself in one year, due to the value of the energy saved, and also increased the comfort of the building's occupants.
This project should be able to be replicated in about 2000 other buildings in New Zealand, presumably with even greater savings in buildings that were not as efficient to begin with.
