Afghan Youth for 350 Awareness Campaign
24 October 2009 - 5:00am
On October 24, Afghan Youth for Social Development and Tolerance will create a 300 square meter message that reads "SAVE OUR WORLD -- AFGHAN YOUTH FOR 350" using chalk on the slopes of Paghman Mountain, mother of the Kabul River. The Kabul River originates from springs there and the area has one of the most visited lakes of Afghanistan, Qarqa Lake.
We will send this message from the mountain in an effort to raise awareness about climate change and its adverse effect on Afghanistan within the governmental authorities and the general public, and to call for action on this crucial issue around the world. This event is designed in such a manner that could attract the head of the National Environmental Protection Agency, MPs, Senators, and key governmental authorities.
The detail of the attendees will be provided upon request.
The campaign will also design banners carrying messages on 350 and climate change that will be hung throughout the capital of Kabul.
Afghan Youth for Social Development and Tolerance will also draft a message on climate change that will be forwarded by the Minister of Education of Afghanistan to school students, teachers, and administrators throughout Afghanistan on that day.

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we get the world on track to get to 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why October 24th?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?
