Chalk Walk

24 October 2009 - 12:00pm

Columbia College Chicago will be hosting an event which is educational, artistic, and engaging.

The event will begin at 12:00pm with a small tutorial on paper making from Columbia College’s Center for Book and Paper Arts (2nd floor 1104 S. Wabash). This session will demonstrate how one can make their own paper by reusing old paper and turning it into pulp.

At 12:45pm, all participants will meet on the first floor of 1104 where there will be a speaker to highlight this important day and people will be given instructions for the ‘Chalk Walk’. These instructions will be a small piece of paper including the event route, chalk outlining details, and the overall theme of the event.

At 1:00pm The ‘Chalk Walk’ will commence. Each person will be given a pick of chalk in to use to trace their "carbon footprint" on the sidewalk. Make a pledge, write something meaningful, decorate your footprint however you would like.

There will be volunteers and organizations showcasing art and visual displays along the walk. There will be art stations, tables, and anything else participants want to use to express themselves.

The walk will culminate in the park near 600 S. Michigan Avenue. There will be a chance for a group picture and 350 love!
