WHAT'S GOING ON?
Join us on the International Day of Climate Action as we rally and march to the Fisk Coal Plant!
On Saturday over 25 groups from around Chicago are teaming up to host the Chicago Climate Action. We’re demanding that President Obama lead the world toward a strong climate policy at home and at the international climate talks in Copenhagen.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Speakers include:
-Executive Director of Greenpeace Phil Radford
-Alderman Joe Moore
-Songs by Topless America
-Youth and Family Activists from the impacted communities in Pilsen and Little Village
Activities and Education include:
-Rally and March to the Fisk Coal Plant!
-The Rolling Sunlight, a solar-paneled truck power the stage!
-Solar panels to warm up coffee and hot chocolate for everyone!
-Mock Wind turbines
-Energy Election ballots where you can vote for clean energy or dirty coal
-Face of Climate Change art display. BRING A PHOTO OF SOMEONE YOU KNOW IMPACTED BY CLIMATE CHANGE to add to the display (ex. your kids or grandkids, firemen, farmers, etc.)
WHY YOU SHOULD COME!
The single biggest source of global warming pollution and air pollution in Chicago is Midwest Generation’s Fisk and Crawford coal fired power plants. These plants are currently being sued by the EPA for violating the clean air act! Here in Chicago, President Obama’s home town, we have the power to send our President a strong message: The world wants President Obama to lead the planet towards a clean energy future.
With the International Climate Talks in Copenhagen this December, this is our President’s chance to negotiate on behalf of scientific IPCC targets to curb carbon emissions and stop climate change. Local communities living in the shadows of the coal plant are standing up for their rights and the right of impacted communities around the world to a clean energy future for their children and grandchildren.

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we get the world on track to get to 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why October 24th?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?
