Roger's Park and Loyola Carbon Free Picnic and Music Festival
24 October 2009 - 11:00am
Here in Roger's Park it seems we have a plethora of eco-conscious residents and small businesses and restaurants. So on October 24th, lets get everyone together and support the 350 ppm marker and our future hope for moving toward a more carbon neutral energy infrastructure. Hopefully, with the help of some of these local small businesses and restaurants, we can all meet for a community wide picnic and some local music and art. Also, I am going to get some fliers put together (if anyone would like to help), so that we can all help educate our locals about this necessary movement. I am still looking into possible meeting places, so an update will have to follow once something is finalized. I first need everyone's support and ideas. Basically, I need help getting this thing moving. I am setting a bunch of things in motion, but could still use any help out there. Feel free to get in contact with me my email is jnalley@luc.edu. Thanks for the support, and thanks for embracing such a vital awareness.
Oct. 9, 2009-UPDATE- We have secured a few great bands to play (Mapmaker and Future Laureates) and then Alderman Joe Moore and Illinois Senator Heather Steans to speak the event. We have secured some vegetarian food donations from some local Roger's Park locations as well. This should be a great time please bring family and friends and participate in something so much bigger than yourself!

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we get the world on track to get to 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why October 24th?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?
