Bougainville Climate Action: Unified for a Global Climate Treaty

The one day of action will be held on October 24 2009 as world renowned individuals get together in their own ways to lead the most challenging and last option for communities throughout the world to take a stand in finding solutions in combating climate change that science and justice are demanding.
The One Day of Action is only a day’s event, but is being organized by four (4) different civil society organizations (Tulele Peisa, Tinputz Primary School, BICWF, Osi Tanata and Nikana Ma’atara) who share similar objectives about the environment and issues of climate change and rising sea levels.
This event is proposed to take place in Marau, the Carterets Relocation site in Tinputz. A group of Carterets Dancers will be brought in from the Carterets Islands to celebrate and take part in this event. Transport is being organized for participants from Central Bougainville and Bana in South Bougainville for this event
Activities for this event are:
*Beating of the church gong 350 times by 35 students taking turns in Tinputz Primary School
*Organisers and the different groups will take part in planting 350 mangrove seedlings on the beach front of Marau, relocation site
*Printing of 2,200 T-Shirts, lap laps, stickers, carry bags and banners with the slogan “Bougainville Climate Action: unified for a Global Climate Treaty”, October 24, 2009
*Live Musical performances by Chris Korokoro & his group and highlight by Saba of Solomon Islands featuring 2 of his composed songs about Carterets Islands
*Traditional Performances such as Singsing Kaur, Solomon Dances, Bamboo Band
