Global Work Party: Celebrating Climate Solutions in San Antonio, TX

Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 08:00 - 14:00

On October 10 we will get to work by volunteering in the Roots of Change Community Garden from 8 a.m. to noon. After a morning of working in the earth, we will party from noon to 2 p.m. by signing a collective 10:10 pledge banner (made by a local quilt artist), make individual pledge and 350 banners (from donated and recycled supplies) to display in our yards and home spaces, and symbolically break our culture's addiction to fossil fuel by breaking open a pinata (made by local artisans) filled with green surprises. We'll dance ,too, to the acoustic sounds of local musicians. Sound fun? It will be!

We are now working on a multi-tiered PR campaign leading up to 10:10 and gathering 10:10 pledges on our website.

Later in October, we will deliver the collective banner to City Council in a show of support for Mission Verde, our city's plan for sustainability and green jobs, and to call for strong action to reduce our city's carbon emissions.
