Vigil in New York City

Friday, 11 December, 2009 - 18:00 - 20:00

People all over the world will unite tonight to raise awareness about climate change, send a message to world leaders, and be part of the solution. Join us and be one of them.

Thanks to the kindness of one of our supporters, we will meet on Pier 66 Maritime, a former car float (railroad barge) that is now used as a pier at the foot of West 26th Street in Hudson River Park on the west side of Manhattan. Its current use is as a public access facility, home to two historic vessels, water taxi, kayaking, historic exhibits, and group events. This venue is both picturesque and meaningful, at the edge of the majestic Hudson.

We will have speakers, information, and opportunities to connect with other environmentally conscious and concerned people, to share the experience of lighting candles to symbolize our recognition of the need to take care of this planet, and to let our elected leaders know how important this is to us, and of our hope to make a difference.

We look forward to talking to all of you, and to seeing your candle's light reflected back in the water of the Hudson beside ours.

Thank you,

Meaddows Ryan, Meg Marrero, Maggie Flanagan and John Doswell
