Vigil in Minneapolis
11 December 2009 - 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Gather on the downtown side of the Stone Arch Bridge. Please bring a candle (with a paper cup for the wind), flashlights, lanterns, or cellphones to light up the bridge. The cellphones also signify a reminder to call our legislators to tell them to make climate rescue a top priority.
Sponsored by the Mayflower Church Earthwise Congregation and HECUA (Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs) Environmental Sustainability class.
Parking
The beginning of the bridge is right at the end of Portland Avenue, and there is parking right at the head of the bridge. There is also another small lot UNDER the bridge. In addition, just a short block up Portland from the bridge is Second Street. Within two blocks either direction from Portland are several parking lots and ramps. There is also parking at the depot at Fifth Avenue and Washington. Finally, there are many meters for on-street parking also on Second Street.

Understanding 350
- So, what is global warming and what's the problem anyway?
- And what does this 350 number even mean?
- If we're already past 350, are we all doomed?
- How do we create the political change to steer towards 350?
- How do we get the world on track to get to 350?
- How do we actually reduce carbon emissions to get to 350??
- Will this thing work? Will world leaders listen?
- Where did this 350 number come from?
- Isn't America the biggest source of the problem? What about China and India?
- 350 is just a number. Wouldn't "Climate Emergency" or "Clean Energy Now" be a better call to action?
- And what about all the other targets people are aiming for?
- Why October 24th?
- Why another organization--there are already too many things going on!
- Do you measure 350 in CO2 or CO2e?
