New York Harbor Climate Change Row: Pier 40 to the UN and back
Sunday, 25 October, 2009 (All day)
A fleet of human-powered boats--more specifically, 26-foot Whitehall rowing gigs--will depart Pier 40 at about NOON ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 25 flying giant '350' banners. We will head south on the Hudson, round the Battery, and proceed north on the East River to the general vicinity of the UN, taking care to stay outside the Coast Guard's 178-yard security zone there. As the tide turns, at about 4 pm, we will return to the Battery and then row back up the Hudson to Pier 40.
Local rowers and kayakers are welcome to join us, provided they have the necessary experience to navigate the challenging waters around the tip of Manhattan.
In the event of wind or rain we may modify our cruise plans.
