Missoula's Global Work Parties!

Sunday, 10 October, 2010 - 12:00 - 18:00

Join Missoula in a local effort to globally reduce carbon emissions! Through tangible local action, we will make our community a better place and encourage our leaders to take action to employ carbon solutions at a national (and international) level! We will say…. “We’re working, what about you?”

THE WORK:
PEAS Farm- Harvest, prepare gardens & provide local food (3010 Duncan – Rattlesnake)

Greenough Park- We have 600 trees to plant as part of a restoration project near the new bridge. There’s nothing better than planting trees that store carbon as they grow! Help us dig and plant! (South end of the park, lower Rattlesnake)

River Road Farm- Build gardens & provide local produce to our community (1697 River Road). Special time: 9-noon

The “M” & along the Clark Fork River- Pull weeds… because diverse native habitats are more resilient in the face of climate change – and they store carbon! (Base of Sentinel and Toole Park, east of the Missoulian, south side of river).

Free Cycles Missoula- Build 10 bikes, 10 bike racks and 10 bike trailers. More bikes=less cars=less carbon emissions! (732 S. 1st St W).

Meet at one of the locations above or at UM FLAT and Bring work gloves, small shovels, or bike tools if you have ‘em! Look for the Green Hard-Hats.

The PARTY: UM FLAT - 5 pm. (633 S. 5th St.) Free. Local food!

Help us make Oct 10th the biggest day of action against global warming the world has seen!
