Episcopal Church in New England Sounds the Call

The Rt. Rev. Bud Cederholm, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Massachusetts, invites all Episcopal churches across New England to ring their steeple bells in a call for action on climate change.
Our goal is to have 350 churches ring their bells 350 times on a date between Sunday, November 23 (Christ the King Sunday) and Sunday, November 30, 2008 (First Sunday of Advent). If your church bells are too old to take 350 rings, or if your church has neither steeple nor steeple bells, hand-bells can be used, instead.
Emboldened by the Spirit given to us by the crucified and risen Christ, we proclaim our reverence for the Earth that God has given us to cherish and protect; our commitment to the poor, who are most vulnerable to the effects of climate change; and our concern for future generations, who depend on us to pass on to them a habitable world.
