To commemorate Earth Day 2011, our friends at Hip Hop Caucus are featuring a campaign called 350 for Earth Day, which highlights the contributions of 350 African American leaders to the green movement. We're glad they're highlighting the significance of 350 on this special day.

The notion of One Planet. One Voice. reminds us that we are all in this thing we call life together. Unfortunately, we have been polluting our planet to such an extent that we are hurting ourselves.
We’ve all seen pollution’s devastating health effects. It’s the asthma that affects our children, it’s the allergies that get worse every year, it’s the extremely high rates of cancer, and it’s the heatstroke that kills too many seniors. It’s also climate change that is causing extreme and dangerous weather patterns, from tsunami’s to hurricanes that take lives, to droughts that cause extreme food shortages.
Because of our growing inequality across the globe, people of color and poor people are suffering disproportionately from these serious consequences of pollution.
We have no choice but to come together and speak with one voice, towards one goal – a healthy planet to ensure healthy and prosperous people.
Join the One Planet. One Voice. campaign to make this Earth Day, and this Good Friday, (which are both on Friday, April 22, 2011), a hopeful day of education, awareness, and diverse movement building.
