USA: Don't Delay on Climate Action!

***UPDATE - December 10, 2011 ***

Thanks to everyone who signed and our allies around the world, we stopped the "Worst Idea Ever": a delay on agreeing on a climate deal until 2020. That said, the Durban climate talks didn't result in the kind of ambition and action the world so desperately needs. Read more here about where we go from here.

At the UN Climate Talks in Durban, South Africa, the US is pushing for a delay on global climate action until 2020. A nine year delay could slam the door on ever getting carbon pollution back below 350 ppm, and would be a death sentence for the people at the front lines of the climate crisis.

We have 48 hours to shift the US position and pressure them to abandon their efforts for a 2020 delay. Sign on now to help make sure the US doesn't block the path to a global climate deal.

To President Obama and US Climate Negotiators:

The world cannot afford delay on climate action. I urge you to abandon your proposal to postpone a binding global agreement until 2020, and stand with vulnerable countries around the world by stepping up your ambition and accelerating your timeline for bold climate action.

Signed,
