Barefoot Boogie / Ravayah

Saturday, 24 October, 2009 - 20:00

The Barefoot Boogie is a freestyle dance which happens twice a month in New York City. We offer a relaxed, smoke- and alcohol-free environment where folks can freely express themselves in movement.

On Oct. 24th, we join with Romemu Center for Ravayah - an evening of music, dancing, and community, that reimagines the ancient ritual of Havdalah to bring the joy of Shabbat (the Sabbath) into the week. Join Rabbi David Ingber for a sweet havdalah ceremony to honor the transition into a new week and then flow into the Boogie groove with Phoebe Reed's Danskinetics class followed by tunes by DJ Excalibur.

The Day of Action will be incorporated into the event, during the ritual and during the DJed portion of the evening when formations of 3's, 5's and 0's will be created by participants.

Location: The Jewish Community Center @ Amsterdam & 76th.
Time: 8:00 - 11:30pm
Cost: $10 to $15 (less for volunteers)
