See the Light

24 October 2009 - 9:00am

We live in an area where the night skies are still dark and star-filled. We'd like to make sure it stays that way. Our motto is "See the Light: Keep it Dark!"

We want to inspire people to take more steps to roll back the current level of CO2 to 350 -- with simple ideas for saving energy, and the devices to help them do it. We'll be asking people to pledge to take at least one more new step, and we'll show them just how easily they can do it. Green products such as Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs, recycled paper products, non-plastic water bottles, and cloth grocery bags will be available. Those who make pledges will have their names entered in a raffle for free collections of these and other products to make your home more green.

Eliot Harris of the Cochise Solar Source will be there to provide information about solar technology and to demonstrate a solar oven, weather permitting. Folks from the Sierra Vista Food Coop will also be there.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 24, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Veterans' Memorial Park, Ramada #2, near the softball field.
