350 Beijing Green Train

ALL ABOARD! LAST CALL FOR THE 350 GREEN TRAIN!

Greening the Beige, Future Generations China through the Green Long March, China Youth Climate Action Network, and the Green Student Forum have joined forces to launch the 350 Beijing Green Train.

Our Green Train is calling for 350 cyclists in Beijing to band together to encourage the use of low and zero-CO2 modes of transportation instead of private vehicles. We want to call attention to the power individuals have to reduce their carbon footprints through personal choices that are made daily.

The Train is departing the Bell and Drum Towers station tomorrow at 12:30 PM bound for the Museum of Natural History where Roots & Shoots is holding their Climate Action Carnival. We'll be making two brief stopovers at Zhangzizhonglu subway station Exit D (southwest) at 12:50 PM and Oriental Plaza 东方广场 just west of Dongdan subway station (at the northwest corner of Chang'an Jie 长安街 and Dongdanbei Dajie 东单北大街) at 1:30 PM. Refer to the map available for download below.

Riders, please arrive at your station a half hour before the scheduled departure time and look for the station conductor who will be wearing a 350/ CYCAN T-shirt. Make sure to check-in and get your ticket to the Climate Action Carnival and handkerchief, kindly provided by Roots & Shoots. Lead station conductor at Drum/ Bell Tower will be Clay (mobile no. 136 2121 5010), at Zhangzizhonglu will be Wes (mobile no. 152 0123 6623), and at Oriental Plaza will be Iris (mobile no. 136 9116 3801). You'll also be asked to sign a release of liability form that is outlined below.

12:30 -- Drum and Bell Towers
12:50 -- Zhangzizhonglu subway station Exit D (southwest)
13:30 -- Oriental Plaza 东方广场 just west of Dongdan subway station
14:00 -- Museum of Natural History

Photos of our journey will be posted on the 350 website and will show world leaders our support for a serious climate treaty to come out of Copenhagen. For effect, we're asking you all to wear green. Beijing is just one of thousands of cities across the globe that has organized an event on this day of action: by joining the Green Train you will be part of an international visual petition!

After the carnival ends at 4 PM, we plan to snap a final photo in front of the iconic Temple of Heaven west gate.

-- As safety is of our utmost concern, please wear a helmet if you have one.
-- We are asking for a donation of 50 yuan per cyclist that will cover organizational costs of the event.
-- Bicycles will not be provided but there are places to rent in the Drum Tower area.
-- Remember to bring your own cup or mug as disposable paper and plastic products will not be available at the carnival.
